Job Description
ASU Mechanical TechnicianResponsible for mechanical maintenance and modifications for all Matheson facilities.
Position Accountabilities
1. Ensure proper maintenance of mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, structural and piping systems necessary for the control of the air separation unit to meet the expectations of our pipeline and merchant customers.
2. Focus in maximizing efficiencies, minimize down time by ensuring the integrity and efficient operations of facility mechanical and related equipment.
3. Accepts responsibility to be proactive and innovative in solutions to ensure an efficient operation and safe work environment.
4. Possess skills to utilize small and large specialized industrial apparatuses and be familiar with the use of precision measurement tools.
5. Demonstrates mechanical aptitude to assure efficient operations.
6. Possess skills to perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment, perform routine calibration of analytical test equipment, have the ability to evaluate equipment performance, and maintain appropriate records.
7. Possess good verbal and written communication skills (with vendors, team members, inter-departmental relationships, and customers).
8. Possess skill to trouble shoot and evaluate equipment malfunctions and take corrective action.
9. Working knowledge base on the theory of air separation and the related equipment associated with the process.
10. Ability to interpret Process & Instrument Drawings to understand process operations and equipment and aid in trouble shooting system anomalies.
11. Understand the plants water chemistry to assure proper cooling tower operations and equipment functioning.
12. Ability to prepare and maintain maintenance and related operations records to meet requirements of FDA, EPA, OSHA, ISO Quality Systems and other internal and external requirements.
13. Participate in the maintenance and updating of plant and equipment work instructions.
14. Maintain adequate record keeping system, take accurate equipment readings, transcribe/transfer data from process computer data bases and tables, etc., to prepare necessary equipment profiles. Be safety conscious, i.e., meetings, work area, eliminate hazards, etc.
Required Skills
Ability to research, select and negotiate purchases for suitable plant equipment
Ability to reads and interpret technical drawings and manuals
Statistical and analytical skills.
Clean driving record.
Required Experience
Technical education or equivalent Industry Experience.
Possess skills to utilize general hand tools.
Possess skills to utilize precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, and dial indicators.
Ability to utilize troubleshooting skills on Medium voltage panels, low voltage panels, and vibration equipment.
Strong understanding of Safety Practices and policies for the Industrial Gas Industry
Strong understanding of Air Separation Principles
Strong understanding of compressors, pumps and expanders
Strong understanding of electrical motors, electrical power distribution and electrical safety.
